Join me for a tour of Florence’s famous Mercato Centrale (Central Market), a gourmet paradise where visitors, Florentine residents, and local chefs come together to shop for the freshest ingredients and regional specialty products. I’ll introduce you to my favorite shop owners, where we’ll sample artisanal creations and shop for high quality culinary souvenirs to take back home, all while learning what to look for to guarantee you’re getting the best quality products available.

• Shop for culinary souvenirs for friends and family back home (or just for yourself!) or ingredients to cook with during your stay in Florence.
• Visit the best market stands for sampling cheeses, cured meats and other delicacies from all around the Italian peninsula.
• Sample local street food, a classic sandwich that’s been devoured by centuries of Florentine residents.
• Finish up with a sweet treat of gelato or cantucci (almond biscotti) with vin santo, depending on the season and your preferences.

Italy is a very family-friendly country, and children of all ages are welcome. If possible, we recommend traveling with your youngest children in carriers or very compact strollers, for ease of getting about in shops and markets.
Typically the market tour is limited to eight people for ease of moving about and to guarantee a high-quality experience for all participants.
